The mission of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, MEER, is to serve the Ecuadorian society thanks to the formulation of the electricity sector’s national policy and the management of projects; promote a suitable and successful sectorial management on the basis of the knowledge contributed by people engaged in the State’s energy sustainability.

The MEER objectives are:

• Plan the energy matrix;
• Increase the electric coverage;
• Strengthen and transform the State’s Energy institutions;
• Ensure the supply reliability and quality;
• Promote the efficient and rational use of energy;
• Enhance the regional energy integration.
