The aim in the field of energy of the Ministry of Energy and Mining is the promotion of sustainable and competitive development in the energy sector and gives priority to private investment and to the diversification of the energy matrix.

On 2nd May 2008, the Peruvian government approved a legislative decree establishing the bases for the drafting of a renewable energies plan and the implementation of a premium system for the electric power to be generated from these sources.

The project will analyse the possibilities of applying these technologies to rural electrification.

On the other hand, the use of domestic natural gas is being promoted. In this context, polygeneration technologies are seen as an ideal alternative for firms’ self-supply. TECH4CDM will seek to boost the sectors with a higher potential in the use of these technologies in the short term.

The local partner is the Centre of Energy and Environment Conservation (CENERGIA).
